A fair draft order is the start. Running the season is the rest.

My Shared House turns this into a living calendar: everyone requests the dates they want, you approve them, and the whole family sees one schedule they can trust. No fees, invite-only.

How the rotation works

Every year the families choose weeks in an order. The family that picks first this year picks second next year, then third, and so on - so first pick rotates evenly through the whole group over a full cycle.

When there are more weeks than families, everyone picks again in extra rounds. Each round reverses direction - a snake draft - so whoever picked last picks first next, and the early and late choices balance out across the year.

The result is a schedule you can print and tape to the fridge, hand out at the family meeting, or share as a link. Use it as the draft order and let each family choose their real weeks, or take the suggested allocation as-is.

Questions families ask

How do families usually divide weeks at a shared cabin?
The fairest and most common method is a rotating draft. Each year the families take turns choosing weeks in a set order, and the family that chooses first rotates every year so nobody keeps the best weeks forever. This generator builds that rotation for you.
What is a snake draft and why is it fair?
When there are more weeks than families, everyone picks again in extra rounds. A snake draft reverses the order each round, so the family that picked last in one round picks first in the next. Over the year the early and late picks balance out.
What if there are more families than good weeks?
Some families will not get a prime week every year. Because the first pick rotates, a different family misses out each year, so it evens out over the full cycle. The generator shows exactly who gets what, year by year.
